Ignoring rain, cold weather and protests, more than 4000 people turned up at Madison Square Garden in New York City to listen to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi address them via satellite.
The largely successful event also turned out to be a protest against the United States government for denying a visa to Modi. Most people said it was an insult to India and Hindus.
Congressman Frank Pallone, New Jersey assemblyman Upendra Chivukula, and New Jersey ratepayer advocate Seema Singh were among the speakers who deplored the denial of visa to a democratically elected leader from a friendly country.
