'An air hostess is as good as being Miss World'

Esha Deol tasted success in her bikini clad avatar in Dhoom, and silenced her critics with her effortless performance in Yuva.

And though the comparisons to her beautiful mother Hema Malini may never stop, Esha has certainly held her own.

After a short hiatus, Esha is back with her latest offering Hijack, directed by Kunal Shivdasani and co-starring Shiney Ahuja and Kaveri Jha. Esha talks to Ameeta Gupta about all things Hijack, her famous family and real life love interests.

Tell us about your role in the film.

My character's name is Saira. She is an air hostess, who is faced with a hijacking for the first time. She is level-headed and calm in stressful situations. She's very gutsy and willing to take that extra step to save others.

Being an air hostess is as good as being a Miss India or Miss World. These women are very well groomed and elegant. There's so much training that goes into it. They have to be gracious towards the passengers, even the annoying ones.

In terms of preparation, I worked on all the references made by my director. He has done an extensive research on each role. On my part, every time I was on a flight, I would study the air hostesses and observe their mannerisms. They must have wondered why I was checking them out. Now they know.
