It had to happen, and this year it finally did.

The National Awards, so far considered one of the indicators of great Indian cinema, have gone truly and utterly pop.

The Best Actor award went to Saif Ali Khan for his work in the film Hum Tum.

No, that isn't a typing error.

Kannada actress Tara (inset) won Best Actress honours for her work in Haseena. Directed by four-time National Award winner Girish Kasaravalli, Haseena also bagged the Best Film on Family Welfare award.
