The Bachchan temple tour

December 26, 2007

The Bachchan family fun didn't stop at the wedding. No siree! When they weren't planning to buy land as farmers, they did their bit to boost temple tourism in India.

It began at much the same time Abhishek and Aishwarya agreed to get photographed together. There they were, at some temple in the South, smiling benignly at assorted priests and local politicians. There they were after the engagement, Papa and Mama B in tow, at another temple, palms folded. There they were on the streets of Mumbai at some unearthly hour, barefoot, with a police escort, marching towards the famed Siddhi Vinayak temple.

What did they pray for, at all those temples? How did the media know where they would be? Did they ever stop by an amusement park? Will they manage to have a private darshan in 2008? We have our fingers crossed.
