Top Tamil Heroines

December 27, 2006
In a male dominated industry, unfortunately there are no performances from actresses that can be termed superlative. One can only list performances that are just average. However, Shriya Reddy, though not a conventional heroine, stands out. She can be compared only to actresses like Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das; an actress of immense talent and courage.

Shriya Reddy

After watching Shriya Reddy as an uncouth, venom spewing slum dweller in Thimiru, it is hard to believe that she was once a VJ who spoke only English. So realistic was her performance and body language in the film. Thimiru is followed by Veyyil in which she is once again acting as a woman belonging to the lower classes of society. In tattered clothes and sans make up, she is simply amazing. Her roles in both these films are just small roles.

What are the events that shaped 2006? Tell us!
