Dance the Salsa

December 15, 2006
Impossible without a partner, this apparent 'exercise' form is energetic, elevating and sexy.

Find a suitable partner and you could be dancing your way to a svelte body. This year, fitness enthusiasts took to this in a big way as opposed to slogging away on a treadmill.

What works?

A big change from working out at the gym. A chance to learn a dance form that can be shown off at nightclubs.

What are the facts?

Unless done non-stop at a good intensity, salsa dancing is not technically a 'cardio' workout. It shows weight reduction in otherwise sedentary people, but it does not reduce fat or tone the body.

What, dear reader, did you think were the new fitness trends? Did it work for you? Tell us!
