Sania Mirza

A new phrase, a new icon, a new sensation.

An Indian woman with a forehand comparable to Steffi Graf's and looks comparable to Gabriela Sabatini? Recipe for big news, for sure!

Everything about the 19-year-old tennis player made news.

Her nose ring, her skirts, her shorts -- when she dumped the short skirts that sparked a big debate -- her t-shirts, her endorsements, her family, her coach, her quotes for and against premarital sex.

And, of course, her game.

Sania mania is part of the everyman vocabulary now. When a beggar strayed into the ticket counter at the Sunfeast Open tennis tournament in Kolkata, the youngster selling tickets asked him: "You are suffering from Sania mania too?"
