What we would have liked to see less this year

It's that Paul Volcker's fault. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have been forced to see K Natwar Singh as often as we eventually did this year.

Honestly, before the Iraq oil-for-food scam broke, for many Indians, he was just another bandh-gala-clad, imperial-sounding minister whenever television cameras happened to latch on to him.

But he denied the report, then denied it again, and then, well, denied it again -- leading to more photographs and more television coverage.

Innocent or not, we suspect a lot of people are glad he quit.
