A legend leaves the arena

The 37-year-old Trinidadian holds the record for the top Test score (400 not out) and highest in the first-class game (501 not out).

He has scored more runs (11,953) in Test cricket than anyone, his 400 not out remains the highest individual score in Tests and his 501 not out for English county team Warwickshire in 1994 is unsurpassed in first-class cricket.

  • After 299 one-day internationals, he finished with 10405 runs at an average of 40.48, inclusive of 19 centuries and 63 half-centuries.

    The 400 not out was scored against Duncan Fletcher's England in Antigua in 2004. He also held the record in 1994 after scoring 375, again in Antigua and again against England.
