Rain delayed the start by 45 minutes after ground-staff mopped up the saturated outfield quickly.

West Indies captain Brian Lara won the toss and elected to field against Sri Lanka.

A superb century from Sanath Jayasuriya helped Sri Lanka crush West Indies by 113 runs to hand the hosts their third successive defeat.
