World number one Roger Federer joined the casualty list at the Rome Masters when he crashed to a 6-7, 6-7 defeat to unseeded Czech Radek Stepanek (in pic) in the quarter-finals on Friday.
The tournament had already lost world number two Rafael Nadal on Wednesday and fourth seed Nikolay Davydenko on Thursday.
