France, without doubt, was the most disappointing team on view. Drawn in the 'Group of Death', which also included Italy, France and Romania, they scored only one goal, conceded six and finished at the bottom of the table with only a point from three matches.
A look at some of the worst moments of the first phase.
Raymond Domenench was, without doubt, the most disappointing coach of the tournament. He wasn't sure of who to play up front and kept on reshuffling his backline.
Firstly, he brought an aged team to the tournament and secondly, was guilty of making some ghastly decisions.
Sample one.
In the crucial match against Italy, he dropped his captain Lillian Thuram for Eric Abidal who received a red card. He then replaced Samir Nasri, whom he'd just brought on, as a substitute for the injured Franck Ribbery, after a few minutes.
Needless to say, France lost the match and bowed out of the tournament.
