Man Utd remember Munich dead

February 7, 2008

Duncan Edwards, Geoff Bent, Roger Byrne, Eddie Colman, Mark Jones, David Pegg, Tommy Taylor and Liam Whelan died, along with 15 others including United's club secretary Walter Crickmer, chief coach Bert Whalley and trainer Tom Curry.

On Wednesday, thousands of supporters stood outside Old Trafford to pay their respects. They laid flowers and listened to the service conducted by club chaplain John Boyers.

"The significance of that accident will never be forgotten," Boyers said, adding that, as well as being a sombre occasion the anniversary was a chance to celebrate the Busby Babes and the legacy of youth that has been sustained at United.
