The US, champions four years back at Athens, never recovered from a poor start in which they trailed 2-0 after only four minutes, Leni Larsen Kaurin and Melissa Wiik scoring the goals for Norway.
Norway, the world champions in 1995 and also the former Olympics champions, beating the Americans in the final on both the occasions, got the better of their rivals yet again.
