Indian doubles ace Mahesh Bhupathi recorded the 500th career match win in doubles on Friday when he teamed up with Bahamas' Mark Knowles to beat Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowle in the quarter-final of the Monte Carlo Masters.

The No.4 seeds advanced to their fifth semifinal this season as they beat fifth seeds Aspelin and Knowle 6-2, 6-3.

Knowles and Bhupathi converted four of five break points in the 62-minute match while never facing a break point on their serve.

Bhupathi had won the Monte Carlo title five years ago with Belarussian Max Mirnyi.
