Portugal left it late before securing a crucial 2- 1 away win against Kazakhstan in Almaty.
The Group A match looked like it was heading for a scoreless draw before substitute Ariza Makukula broke the deadlock for
Portugal six minutes from time.
There was still time for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo to make it 2-0 before Dmitriy Byakov pulled one back for
the home side in injury time.
The win moves Portugal on to 23 points in the group, one point adrift of leaders Poland but three clear of third-placed
Finland and six clear of fourth-placed Serbia, who face Azerbaijan later Wednesday.
