Ana Ivanovic revealed after reaching the French Open final on Thursday that she had started hitting balls at the bottom of an empty swimming pool.
Ivanovic, who crushed Maria Sharapova 6-2, 6-1 to become the first player representing Serbia to reach the final of a Grand Slam tournament, said her first practice sessions had been pretty unusual.
"I grew up playing in a swimming pool," she said. "It was a club where they had an Olympic pool. It was very expensive to keep it warm during the winter so they emptied the pool, put carpet inside and placed two tennis courts.
