Sania, who only recently returned after a knee operation, blamed lack of match practice after losing the match.
The Indian number one underwent surgery in March after suffering a ligament injury in her right knee at the Qatar Open.
"I had surgery almost three months ago and this is my third tournament back," Sania told reporters.
"I probably could have done a few things better but I guess that's where the lack of match practice comes into play," she added.
