Rain will play spoilsport, said the weather forecast for the weekend. While it did for many in Mumbai, it wasn't the case for diehard motorsport freaks.

In fact, the heavy rain that lashed the city on Sunday morning was welcomed by all those who gathered at the JK Chemicals' ground at Pokharan Road, Thane, for the Sportscraft-organised Autocross.

The presence of Gautam Singhania, Neville Poonawala, Ashish Doshi, Farokh Commissariat, Dilip Joshi, Karan Shah, Sohrab Zorabian, Asif Shah, Mohd. Fahad Kutty, Mihir Dharkar, Mohd. Vzair Ansari , Hitesh Kochar, brothers Rishad and Riyhad Kundanmal and Aamir and Imran Mithaiwalla made the challenge of driving in dirt all the more exciting.

As word about the event and the revving up of engines grew crowds gathered to the venue and cheered the drivers.

Singhania was magnanimous enough to share his ATVs [All Terrain Venicles] with most of the competitors and let them compete with him.
