Frank Baumann (in the picture) and Torsten Frings scored a goal each to help Werder Bremen beat Levski Sofia 3-0 in Group A.
The German team took the lead in the 33rd minute when Levski goalkeeper Nikolai Mihailov scored an own-goal. A pass from
Richard Eromoigbe rolled toward Mihailov, but he failed to control the ball and it went into the net.
Two minutes later, Baumann headed in a corner from Jurica Vranje, and Frings made it 3-0 in the 37th with a shot from inside
the box.
