Football followers have a ball

Fan fun turned into a menace in Cologne when English supporters climbed on top of a statue at the central Alter Markt square to drape it with flags.

Fans on the ground threw beer bottles at the folks on the statue and one of them fell. There was a brief scuffle and the police used pepper guns to disperse the 2,000 strong crowd and detained 14.
