Adelaide-born Aloisi, who has scored 25 goals in 41 appearances for Australia, was already an Aussie hero, having taken the team to the finals by scoring the decisive penalty against Uruguay in the November play-off. It was the first time Australia had reached the World Cup finals since 1974.
