Meet the three blind mice

Try this for starters.

Who are the 'three blind mice'?

What's a 'lawn mower' doing when a game is on?

And isn't 'karaoke' for nightclubs?

First, 'three blind mice' -- actually a derogatory term referring to game officials.

A 'lawn mower' is a shot that barely skims the field or bounces on its way to the goal. Incidentally, there's also a 'worm-burner', referring to a ball that skims at high speed along the surface of the pitch.

As for 'karaoke', it has nothing to do with singing, but has everything to do with moving sideways quickly by crossing over one's legs.
