He was born in Rouen, France, into a well-known Argentine footballing family, who were in France for a match. His parents were French immigrants to Argentina. Trezguet grew up in Argentina. He considers himself of French-Argentine extraction, yet he apparently did not speak French till he was 17.

Like Vieira and Thurman, Trezeguet -- who often has to yield his place in the French starting 11 to Thierry Henry -- is part of the French group that gives Juventus much of its muscle.
