The Japanese Grand Prix

BAR's Japanese driver Takuma Sato (left) collides with the Toyota of Italian Jarno Trulli.

Sato, who has lost his drive with the Honda-powered team for 2006, posted the fifth-quickest time in qualifying but the collision wrecked his chances in the very first lap of his home Grand Prix.

The BAR driver finished 13th while Italian Trulli retired on lap 10. Race stewards said in a statement that they had reviewed the evidence and concluded that Sato had forced Trulli off the track.

Sato was branded a 'reckless' driver by Toyota team boss Tsutomu Tomita. "I'm extremely annoyed. What Sato did is just not on. It was reckless," Tomita said.
