Mahindra United vs East Bengal
East Bengal's strikers had three good attempts at the Mahindra goal, but they were thwarted by some good defending. The home side's goalkeeper, Sandip Nandy, was also brilliant under the bar.
East Bengal, who went in to the game without Baichung Bhutia in the starting eleven, got off the mark promisingly, with Alvito D'Cunha creating a scoring opportunity in the first minute. But Bijen Singh failed to direct the ball it into the goal.
Despite the narrow miss they dominated ball possession in the first half, but left the door open for Mahindra in the second.
