The Canadian Grand Prix
Renault drivers made a storming start from the second row, Italian Giancarlo Fisichella whistling past Schumacher and Jenson Button on one side while Fernando Alonso punched through on the other.
Race leader Italian Fisichella looked in control of things till a run of bad luck struck again after he had been in front for almost half the race.
Fisichella, who slowed and retired on lap 33, got out of the car and tossed his gloves to the floor as he strode into the garage.
Fisichella, winner of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, has now retired from half the season's races.
