For the uninitiated, a Liverpool side without Michael Owen is no Liverpool side at all. But on closer inspection, one feels that Cisse (left) and Milan Baros might just be the more potent pairing upfront.

Four of their five summer signings were from the new coaches Rafael Benitez's homeland. Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso is a proven workhorse but it remains to be seen how quickly they will all settle down.
