Peter Shilton of England
In a remarkable career between the 'sticks' Peter Shilton made the incredible total of 1,390 first-class appearances, following his league debut for Leicester City in May 1966. His longevity wasn't restricted to club football either, for he also set a new world record at the international level by winning 125 England caps in a career that spanned two decades, 1970 - 1990.
Shilton's agility belied his muscular frame and as a shot-stopper there were few better. His work rate and training schedule were legendary.
