The Ice Queen
When Sharapova first made her appearance on the WTA tour at the age of 14, people almost instantly fell for her sunshine smile and model looks. It was almost inevitable that there would be comparisons with Anna Kournikova, who reached the Wimbledon semi-finals at the age of 16 but never managed to win an event on the Tour.
But all those comparisons made her all the more determined not to go the 'Kournikova' way.
"I don’t notice these things that happen in the outside world. I just concentrate on the things I have to do," she says.
