Mid-field Generals
Gheorghe Hagi of Romania
Nicknamed the "Maradona of the Carpathians," Hagi drew comparison with the little Argentine not only for his talents but also his fiery Latin temperament.
A lethal left foot saw him score many brilliant goals from set-piece situations.
He was the driving force behind Romania's successful 1994 World Cup campaign. Till the end of his career he was one of the few players in the modern game who could dramatically alter the course of a match single-handedly.
