Walter Fritz of Germany
One of the true legends of German football, Fritz Walter will always have a special place in his country.
He started as a forward, but finding that his elegant skills and perceptive reading of the game were wasted so far up the pitch, he reinvented himself as a midfielder.
A true testament of his standing in the eyes of Germans was when he made it to Germany's 'Team of the Century', voted by the people in 1999.
