Australia's Ian Thorpe jubilates after winning the men's 200m freestyle final at the Olympic Aquatic Center.

Thorpe emerged triumphant in swimming's so-called "race of the century" in one minute 44.71 seconds to claim his second gold in Athens, after winning the 400 freestyle two days ago.

Pieter van den Hoogenband of the Netherlands took silver, while American teenager Michael Phelps collected the bronze.
