17 militants and 8 soldiers killed in J&K encounter

At least 17 militants and eight soldiers, including a major, were killed in a fierce encounter between the army and the terrorists in Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir, as the encounter continues for the fifth day on Wednesday.
Troops were battling with heavily armed militants at three different sites in the Shamasabari and Haphruda forests of Kupwara and Handwara district of Kashmir since Friday last.
