Jayalalithaa goes on hunger strike

Former Tamil Nadu chief minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief Jayalalithaa announced that she would be on a day-long hunger strike over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue on Monday.
Jayalalithaa accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam of not doing enough to solve the issue.
Meanwhile, India dispatched medical aid to Sri Lanka to provide assistance to the civilians displaced in the island war.
