Since the arrest of Lt Col Prasad Srikant Purohit and detention and release of Colonel (retired) Shailesh Raikar, former Commandant of the Bhonsala Military School in Nashik, the school has been in not too flattering focus.
Mumbai's Anti Terrorist Squad had arrested Purohit for his involvement in the September 29 Malegaon blast which, claims the ATS, was planned at the BMS's premises spread over 165-acres in the heart of Nashik.
It is against this backdrop that rediff.com called on the principal of BMS, R R Kute, at his office to find out how the school was coping after being embroiled in the controversy over its role.
While a lot has been written about the links of the Malegaon blast accused with the BMS, not many would know about the school and its functioning. Here's what Kute had to say about BMS's founder, their programmes, curriculum, Vande Mataram, how they encourage their students to join the National Defence Academy and the Indian Armed Forces, and the BMS's association with the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh.
