Puri: Even Gods feel the heat!

Devotees in Puri perform a ritual bath of the idols in sandalwood paste, which they believe will provide relief to the deities from the scorching summer heat. Thousands of Hindu devotees and tourists thronged the coastal town of Puri in eastern Orissa to witness the sacred bath ceremony of the Gods from Puri temples.
Amid blowing of conches and beating of cymbals, idols were taken out of the temple in traditional gear and given bath by priests of the temple.
