China earthquake toll crosses 12,000

Dujiangyan was a town in shock on Tuesday. Piles of rubble were all that was left where buildings stood just one day before.
Over 12,000 people were killed by the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hammered China's south-western province of Sichuan on Monday. Rescue and relief troops have arrived at Wenchuan county, the epicentre, and started operations in the rain.
