EC keeps candidates on a tight leash

May 10, 2008
The ECI has warned that any sort of political activity near the booth will be dealt with severely and such persons could be arrested too.

A white line has been marked 100 meters around every booth to indicate that there shall not be any sort of activity within that line.

The candidates had set up help centres outside the 100 metre area. However they were barred from putting up party flags and banners.

Surana, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Shivajinagar, said that only three tables and a chair were allowed and even putting up a protective cover from the sun was banned.
