Sonia Gandhi addresses election rally in Bengaluru

May 07, 2008

After waving at the crowd for nearly three minutes, she began her 15-minute speech. She said that the Congress is the only government capable of providing stability, adding her party always fulfils all the promises made to the electorate. "By tabling the woman's bill in Parliament, we have only fulfilled another promise," she said.

While seeking a clear mandate for her party in Karnataka, which goes into the first phase of elections on May 10, Sonia said that the people of Karnataka have seen the true face of the other parties. "Those parties have played a game with the electorate. Karnataka had seen a lot of development under the Congress, but in the past few years it is lagging behind," she said, adding that Karnataka can restore its lost glory only if the Congress comes back.
