Mamatha, who has adopted a door-to-door campaign in Ramnagar, says she is optimistic and feels that the voter will give her a chance. Clad in a blue sari and accompanied by her daughter Jiti, who is a lawyer by profession, Mamatha -- who has been campaigning in Maralwadi village and its surrounding areas -- reaches out more to the women voters.
As her vehicle comes to a halt at Maralwadi, she is greeted by the villagers who have made the required arrangements for her brief visit. Her vehicle is accompanied by a jeep, which has the Congress banners and a loud speaker attached to it.
Interestingly, the Congress banner has a photograph of Ramakrishna Hegde along with Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Mallikarjuna Kharge and S M Krishna. Just to refresh, Ramakrishna Hegde was one of the persons who had spoken out strongly against the Congress when he was in active politics.
The message is very clear and that Mamatha is also banking heavily on her father's image and even the message on the loud speaker is clear -- "Hope for Ramnagar, please vote for Ramakrishna Hegde's daughter Mamatha Nichani."
There is no anti-JD-S remark made when she speaks and her main focus is on the development of Ramnagar and the empowerment of women in this constituency. She also says that politics is not new to her and that she had campaigned with her father several times in this constituency in the past.
