Development will be the key and there is a lot of work that is to be completed in my constituency and I am confident that the voter will not let me down, he said.
Kumaraswamy's campaign team says he is caught between his constituency and the rest of the state. He is the star campaigner for the JD-S and has to focus on the rest of the state too and hence he is unable to dedicate the amount of time to Ramnagar as he would have loved to. They also say the campaign is low profile this year as compared to 2004 polls.
"The Election Commission is very strict and we do not want to take any chances," they say.
While the JD-S is concentrating solely on the Kumaraswamy tenure as chief minister and his achievements, the Congress on the other hand is relying heavily on jinxes. They believe that a lady candidate is unlucky for the Gowda clan ever since H D Deve Gowda lost the parliamentary elections to Tejaswini from the Kanakapura constituency.
If Tejaswini could do it, then even Mamatha can, feels the Congress.
Another little known fact about Ramnagar is that no person has won the election twice in a row from this constituency. The Congress is banking on this aspect too.
However, Ramakrishna Hegde's daughter, who is contesting the elections for the first time, rubbishes this and says that the Congress is not fighting the election here on jinxes.
