It is one of the most high-profile constituencies in Karnataka today. A face off between a former chief minister and the daughter of a former chief minister makes the battle for Ramnagar a very interesting one.
The silk city of Karnataka, Ramnagar is all geared up for the big fight between H D Kumaraswamy (Janata Dal-Secular), son of H D Deve Gowda and former state chief minister, and Mamatha Nichani (Congress), daughter of Ramakrishna Hegde.
Going through 30 different villages in Ramnagar, which became a district when Kumaraswamy was the chief minister gives an indication that the fight is only between the Congress and the JD-S.
Although a majority of the Ramnagar public gives the JD-S a 60:40 chance over the Congress, the JD-S is taking no chances and is campaigning in full swing. With a tough battle on hand, leaders are doing everything possible to woo the voters.
