Thanks to the strict guidelines by the Election Commission, the crowds were nothing great. No banners to announce the visit by the leaders and a ban on ferrying people from other places (except for public rallies) made the road shows by both Krishna and Gowda a dull affair. They made their announcements from the vehicle and only got off to attend street corner meetings which were conducted by the local representatives of the areas they visited.
Mayawati, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and BSP chief, decided to address a rally in Bengaluru in order to woo the voter. Although the general talk is that the BSP plans to eat into the Congress vote bank, Mayawati denied the same.
She said they are here to make it on their own. Addressing a sizeable audience in Bengaluru, she said she was not here to help the BJP or the Congress.
"We are serious in our approach and the people should not be under the misconception that we are here to cater to one particular caste. The BSP is a party for the upper caste too," Mayawati said.
