Gowda, who had said at the start of the elections that no government could be formed in Karnataka without the help of the JD-S, spread his Bengaluru campaign to Chikpet, Mahalakshmi Layout and Rajajinagar. The target voters were the Vokkaligas, OBCs and the minorities. Travelling in an open vehicle specially made for the campaign, Gowda tried wooing the voters by speaking in length about the achievements of his party. He also reminded the voters as to what he had done as both prime minister and chief minister.
S M Krishna, on the other hand, concentrated on areas such as the BTM layout, Shantinagar, Vijaynagar and Govindrajnagar in Bengaluru.
Undertaking his campaign in an open jeep, Krishna too reminded the people about his achievements as chief minister and also added that he was responsible for the IT policy in Bengaluru as a result of which the city has flourished.
He also reminded the people that it was only the Congress which was capable of providing a stable government in Karnataka. Krishna undertook his campaign in a specially made jeep.
