The tour of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi in the rural parts of Karnataka came to an end at Raichur in the northern part of Karnataka on Friday. From Raichur, he will head straight to Bengaluru, where he will participate in a rally on Saturday morning.
Since day one when he kick-started his tour at the Chamrajnagar district in the southern Karnataka, Rahul and the youth Congress maintained that this tour was not an election campaign, but more of a familiarisation exercise for Rahul. He maintained that he wanted to connect with the people of Karnataka and get to know their problems better. Apart from this, Rahul also wanted the people of Karnataka to know about him and his concern for them.
Rahul sure has managed to create an awareness regarding himself in most parts of the state. When he first landed at B R Hills, a huge PR exercise was undertaken when Rahul decided to eat Ragi Roti and honey at a house belonging to one of the tribals. Immediately after Rahul left, Jade Gowda, the host, had to be told that the man who just visited his house was Rahul Gandhi. When that did not ring a bell, he was told that he was Indira Gandhi's grandson.
