Breakfast: Ragi rotis and honey

March 25, 2008
The entire population of the hamlet stood on the roads to welcome Rahul. Schoolchildren with Congress and Youth Congress flags were seen atop trees and water tanks cheering him on. The roads were decorated with Congress flags and posters. As were scores of enrollment booths positioned at regular intervals enroute. Rahul's message was clear that was he wanted more youth into the party.

Rahul then walked into one of the huts where a traditional breakfast awaited him. For the family of Jade Gowda, it sure was a big day as they had the honour of hosting the Gandhi scion.

A mat was spread out on which local delicacies like ragi rotis, fresh honey, gooseberries, and wild berries were served. Rahul took a bite of the ragi roti and honey. However he did not eat the berries as he has been advised by doctors not to do so.

After breakfast, Rahul was asked what he thought about the meal. With a smile he said, "It was fine." His host said that it was most wonderful day of his life. He told rediff.com that Rahul was happy and has thanked the family for the meal.
