A tribal welcome for Rahul

March 25, 2008
Rahul Gandhi arrived at around 10.30 am with scores of Congressmen to a rousing welcome. He got of his vehicle with a smile and seemed impressed with the drum beats that welcomed him. The tribals welcomed him with the traditional Goruka Nruthya (spring dance).

Around six persons dressed up in leaves and painted faces began dancing the moment he entered the hamlet and stopped only after he left.

Several tribesmen and women went up and presented him with garlands made out of wild flowers. He also seemed quite happy to pose with them for photographs.

He looked at ease with these people and probably has gained experience from his recent Orissa visit, where he also visted tribal hamlets.
