Arthur C Clarke's final odyssey

British-born science fiction writer and visionary Arthur C Clarke died at a private hospital in Colombo on Wednesday morning, his office said.
According to officials, Clarke, who had been in and out of hospital, died in Apollo Hospital aged 90.

Clarke wrote more than 70 books of popular science and science fantasy, including Childhood's End, The Nine Billion Names of God, Rendezvous with Rama, and Profiles of the Future. He is best knowm for the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey (1968), for which he wrote the script with Stanley Kubrick.
