Krishna also took the decision after previous rallies held in the city, including one by the Bharatiya Janata Party, had severely inconvenienced the residents of Bengaluru thanks to the traffic jams.
Each one present to receive Krishna and his wife, Prema, at the airport wanted a glimpse of their leader. They wanted to garland him, touch him and seek his blessings. This led to a lot of jostling and Krishna literally had to be whisked away into his car. The police too had a tough time in controlling the crowd, but at the end of it, everything went on well.
Although Krishna did not want to make too much of his return, he was forced to give into the pressure of his followers, who were not willing to let him go unless he addressed all of them. Krishna was taken to the HAL grounds near the airport, where he was supposed to address the gathering.
